Helper of Me

Helper of Me

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Helper of Me

I’m not alone in the waiting,

You hear when I’m praying.

When I cry a river to You,

My soul You graciously soothe.

When I can’t see what’s ahead,

You’re waiting there, arms spread.

Needing You always,

You ever grant grace.

When I’m down and out.

I remember I’m found.

The Conqueror of rolling seas,

You are the helper of me!

What a concept to grasp…

Yet, You hear all I ask.

Nearer than my next breath,

The Lifter of my head

When I fall in sinking sand…

You grab my hand.

As the years roll on,

All the more I hear Your song.

Glory is due Your Name,

Worthy of all praise.

I know I shall succeed,

For You are the Helper of me!
