Abounding LoveA Poem by Melinda McQueenAbounding Love
O what love has the Father eternal, That He abundantly gave of Himself. To come to live a perfect, sinless life So that He could carry our burdens’ stealth. Christ’s consuming love so shed far and wide, Proclaiming victory over death’s grave. How great was the divide that lay between Glorious heaven and the world’s shame. But graciously the Prince of peace gave all, When so extending His merciful arms. Taking our rightful place at Calvary. He paid full, to redeem our souls from harm. What abounding love that made the way straight Even when all the world was in despair. Though in His face did they all spit and taunt, He asked His Father for their pardon, As He selflessly took death far away. Nothing we can do will earn eternity. Only trust in Jesus and His true love And take the Lord at His unfailing Word, That Christ’s sacrifice will always be enough!
