Fine Strings

Fine Strings

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Fine Strings

Fine strings

Hung loosely,

They danced

Quite profusely.

Left there

Years ago,

Still attached
to sorrow.

A garment

Of old

Wasting away,

Never told.

But there…

The same.

Its memory

In place.

A time

Of sadness

Had yellowed

The dress.

A dream

Never bestowed.

Yet still

Lives its own.

Though forgotten,

Still hanging

Is hope

Ever engaging.

Fine strings

Hang loosely,

Still dance

Quite profusely.

What keeps us tied (strings) to someone, be it time, place - it hangs looser and looser until, perhaps memory and heart suddenly lets go. Tween times, one needs write and photograph precious moments. Dance profusely, yes - but, need help with an occasional nudge, heel and toe!

Hope so.. I tried and will do so again when I come read some more, Melinda.
The dress is a metaphor for a person's life and the things that have been lost in it. There has been suffering, but hope remains. May it ever.
