The Fountain on the Other Side

The Fountain on the Other Side

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Fountain on the Other Side

Dry, parched land,
without strength to withstand.

Sighing for breath,
while warding off death.

Blisters on surface tops,
scalding hot.

Cracking pots,
the grounds riots

Needing raindrops
that the sky refuses to drop
rain upon the earth.

A wide berth
cries to be saturated.

Are the clouds gated?

Let them be mandated,
yes, let the skies be delegated
to pour buckets of saving rain
so earth may sustain
so all life maintains
as the need is plain.

Needing the touch
of an abundant rush.

It awaits
to become a lake,
dwelling as a life-changing quake,
ready and willing to remake!

A rain upon our hearts,
to fill and never part.

Let the windows of heaven sling wide,
pouring buckets from on high.

Dry, parched lives
in need of the fountain on the other side.

A drought is very serious, and in this poem you almost pray for rain... its is so needed for humans as well as for nurturing the earth....if the clouds would only fill with rain and drop is all over the universe....allow the clouds to burst open...nice images here, enjoyed reading ......
