The Praising Tree

The Praising Tree

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Praising Tree

Long fingers reach to the sky
in praise and wonder.

Though grey fills the spans,
its limbs are raised with another.

Firm and bold
are its sturdy roots.

Though the wind mightily blows
it stands firm in its truth.

The grey sky cries,
dampening not only the tree,
but the ground which
gives the tree strength.

Pretty blue skies
are often preferred
over ominous, silver displays,
the first is mostly concurred.

Yet, faith sees beyond
the heavy greys.

It sees the fine light on the other side
and waits patiently.

The praising tree keeps praising,
and doesn’t bog down in gloom.
It keeps reaching
until it sees the Truth.
