Thankful for the Cross

Thankful for the Cross

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Thankful for the Cross

That cross from long ago.

That cross of riches told.

That cross awaited its destiny.

That cross set me free.

It was ready to be used,

Ready to aid in making new.

It witnessed the cost.

Thankful for the cross.

It grew and grew

Into the promised truth.

Yes, it rose to the sky

So the Savior could die.

Sinless, He gave up His life,

Offering Himself as the sacrifice.

He gave it all.

Thankful for the cross.

That cross held my Savior.

That cross knelt to His favor.

That cross delivered Him to death.

That cross bowed to Christ’s best.

O what love purchased that day

When on ultimate display.

I was found in my loss,

And I’ll forever be thankful for the One on the cross.
