The Blue Velvet Sky

 

High is the sky,

Far from the land.

Lofty and spacious,

Awestruck attention, it demands.

 

Holding cotton-candy clouds,

Its vastness stretches far and wide.

Ever moving in its own way--

The blue velvet sky.

 

Running to and fro,

It sees everything ‘neath the sun.

Nothing unseen, nothing new

Since first the world begun.

 

Its eyes wink

A million upon millions, shine.

A force strong and complete--

The blue velvet sky.

 

Tracing the wind,

Instructing the ocean’s flow,

The moon’s wisdom

Making it so.

 

How unsearchable its depth,

How wondrous the heights.

From here to there--

The blue velvet sky.
