The Strength of the Cross

The Strength of the Cross

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

                                               The Strength of the Cross

The wondrous cross of days of old

Still has power to make man whole.

At the foot of the cross, souls come

In admiration of Christ, the one Son.

There is power in the Name of Jesus

To break every chain into tiny pieces.

The cross that bore my shame and took my pain, suffered an extraordinary life so I could live

With Him throughout   all  eternity. Oh, how the cross  which my King bore to bestow the gift

Of everlasting life, the Lord wise. Glory be to the Lord   on high as the angels sing His praises.

His love    outstanding in all   His acts, and to   think the   center of my heart    He now graces!

The strength of the cross   was magnificent when my   Savor selflessly   gave of    His holy life,

So   that  I     could  forever   survive.

How   marvelous the   way that leads

To a  promise    made  so    complete.

How mighty was the tree  which held

My Savor   in whom    God   dwelled.

The   glory   of   the   cross   instilled

In the   magnificence  of   His    will.

Powerful  is His  saving grace  to all,

When Jesus, was obedient to the fall.

                                            Submitting   Himself  unto the death

Of  a   sinner,   gave His   last breath.

Nailed to   the  cross  for   all  to see

By  His   warned   hands     and  feet.

His   amazing love   poured   out red

As thorns pierced His crowned head.

Oh   how   the   mighty  Savior  bled

In  the   whole  entire   world’s stead.

With beaten arms stretched out wide,

He died because of these sins of mine.

By  all   means…   consider    the loss,

For it wasn’t  the strength of the cross

Which held Jesus to that infamous tree,

But  rather,  His  love  for you and me!
