Chasing Purple DreamsA Poem by Melinda McQueenChasing Purple Dreams
Standing
in a trance, Though
he didn’t want her to go,
The
sky was alive in purple, The
beauty of it all,
She
had big dreams That
she’d succeed,
The
world was big She
so wanted to achieve
Through
flowing tears, Because
he loved her,
Though she loved him, something in her had to be free. She
had to see what was out there--
Promising
to return someday, He
had vowed to wait there on the dock
Standing
there with her dog by his side, The
purple sky mirrored in the vast water
The
sailboat dotted with tiny crystals He
couldn’t help but to think
But
to him, she had always shone She
was his world--
Would she ever come back? She would, or so he had to believe. Yet,
deep down, he found himself wishing
