First Day of AutumnA Poem by Melinda McQueenFirst Day of Autumn
First day of Autumn. The leaves are falling, Piling in heaps. The birds are calling.
Gentle winds sweeping Through your hair, Causing it to ruffle In the new cool air.
The sun gently kisses the skin Just enough to make its presence known. Sunshine peeking through shaded trails, Calling for one to come bask in light bestowed.
Leaves crunching ‘neath strolling feet Give way to Autumn’s sounds. The air brisk and clear, Butterflies fluttering around.
This is just the beginning Of cooler days and nights to come. As today marks The first day of Autumn.
