Baby BirdsA Poem by Melinda McQueenBaby Birds
Nestled inside, Baby birds chirp for their mother. She’s gone away, They’re frightened, one then another.
Where could she be? Baby birds chirped louder still. Doesn’t she care anymore? Has she forgotten us in ill will?
Calling and calling, Baby birds chirp for their mother’s love. Still, they were alone, Their mother hadn’t come.
Then, one day she flew to the nest, Baby birds chirped happily. Delivering their food of worms, She fed each.
With bellies full and round, Baby birds chirped, satisfied. Cuddling ‘neath their mother’s wings, Their world made right.
The next day, she nudged them out of the nest. Baby birds chirped at their pending demise! But the wind caught their wings, And oh, how they did fly!
Humans are a lot like baby birds. We sometimes feel that God has left us high and dry, When in reality, He is preparing us To have the kind of faith that takes flight!
