From the Valley to the MountaintopA Poem by Melinda McQueenFrom the Valley to the Mountaintop
Jugged
rocks dotted the valley Having
walked days,
All alone and
though she yells,
Literally
in the valley, Though
she keeps moving,
The
sun blistering her back, Though
the mountaintops are distant,
Having
run out of water She
hadn’t planned to have car trouble,
Her
legs as noodles, Falling
to the rocky ground,
She’s
sure she’s in the valley of death, Then,
hearing herself pray,
But
her throat is dry Her
voice gone,
Night
fell over her, Praying
with earnest through the night,
Morning
lit the sky Feeling
a renewed energy,
Finally,
she begins to climb the mountain, Taking
very little strength,
What’s
going on? She doesn’t know what’s coming to pass.
Making
it to the top of the mountain, Her spirit, still.
In
the next second, she awakens Vaguely,
she realizes it as a dream,
She
now cries tearfully, For
the scene in her dream She then heard Him in her spirit, The desires of your heart will I give, and none can rob. She now understood she had to trust Him from the valley to the mountaintop.
