![]() No Sunshine in the ShadeA Poem by Melinda McQueenNo Sunshine in the Shade
Sitting outside, Enjoying the sun when my cousin, Ray, Posed the question, Why aren’t you in the shade?
Feeling the warmth upon my skin, I heard him say… As I closed my eyes in agreement, No sunshine in the shade?
That got me thinking about life And how we sit around waiting-- Waiting for something to happen, But nothing’s changing.
Staying in the same spot Tends to make one feel safe. Now and again, you must step out, for there’s No sunshine in the shade.
A bird chirps, Flying into the open sky; It knows it’s journey Is ‘neath the sunshine.
Soar ‘til the heart is content, Flying high… always. For nothing grows when hidden, as there’s No sunshine in the shade.
