Sweet Preserves

Sweet Preserves

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Sweet Preserves

How sweet the communion

Between God and man.

What sacrifice He made,

To deliver this land.

Granted unto His children,

A grace to keep the soul.

Gathering unto Him

Sweet preserves to bestow

Freshly kept,

Nourished from the inside,

God of glory speaks,

As He abides.

Taking away sour

And contrary seeds,

He replaces corruptible with

Preserves sweet.

He holds us tightly

In His protective hand.

He preserves His children

For the Promised Land.

Surely, He keeps us

Through the power of His might.

Safe from harm,

Sweet preserves in His sight.
