My Husband's Snore

My Husband's Snore

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

My Husband’s Snore

I find that I cannot sleep

Until I hear the now familiar sound.

Like a lull, its soothing rhythm

Can always be found.

More often than not,

He drifts off before

My eyes slumber, so I listen to

My husband’s snore.

It reminds me that I’m not alone,

For he’s there beside me.

I sometimes lie there,

And wonder what he dreams.

He has become my stay,

Calming me in times of need.

Then suddenly, I hear

My husband’s snore.

When I have a difficult task

Scheduled for the next day,

He puts his arm around me,

And he prays.

Most nights he talks my ears off,

Then, in a split second…

I hear the sound of

My husband’s snore.

The singing nose. Aha. My husband is a snorer and it differs in a few ways. We have the trombone sound, the loud quivering sound of the lips like a horse, the clicking tongue and the one that sounds like the buzzer when someone has given the wrong answer to a tv question. d..dur. (Wasn't sure how to pring that sound. Lol. Enjoyed Melinda. (Heaven only knows what I sound like!)

Dear Melinda, my husband snores but I'm sorry to say I don't find it either endearing or a comfort. It is a bloomin curse lol. Also it is very loud and shakes the bed. Maybe if it was much sifter I would be able to think differently. As John said, this is the first poem about snoring I have read which has a positive outlook:)

First time I have ever read a positive comment about apnea. My wife has a more jaundiced view of snoring. Just goes to show there are two sides to everything.
