![]() Their Whole HeartsA Poem by Melinda McQueenTheir Whole Hearts
To
the one she loves, She
dares not think
A
relationship has blossomed Alive
and thriving
Together
they love-- She
holds him dear,
Over
time, life gets in the way, Preoccupied
with work and other things,
Finding
time to talk becomes a challenge, Only
morning smiles seem to do,
One
day she receives a call-- For
he kindly tells her to meet him
She’s
all aflutter as she slips into a dress, What was this? She would surely know when looking into his eyes.
On
the drive, she finally allows time The
good times outweighed the bad,
He’d
been brief on the phone, When
she’d asked what this was about,
Making
it to the restaurant, It doesn’t take long for his eyes to lock with hers. After many months, they see each other’s truth.
He
stands to pull out her chair, Both
in the moment,
