The Wheat Among WeedsA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Wheat Among Weeds (Matthew 13:37-42)
To
go out into the world, The children of His Kingdom, To help set others free.
The field is the world To bring to the harvest. To reach the lost, To be eternally blessed.
Then, he that sows weeds is the devil, Attempting to crowd out the believer’s faith, To strangle and limit All their ways.
Among wheat are the weeds left So both may grow, Less the wheat be consumed with the weeds By the fire ever told.
When at last, the wheat is reaped And so too, are the weeds which surround. The harvest comes and the weeds are sent To burn in a fire that astounds.
The reapers are the angels Who He will send forth readily To rid the world of evil, and so too, will be gathered… The wheat which afore were among weeds.
