My Beach of a Dream

My Beach of a Dream

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

My Beach of a Dream

The sand calls,

The waves mount up high.

The weather, perfect,

The sun beams from the sky.

O the beauty that entails.

A picturesque scene,

Capitalizing on the earth.

A wonder it must be.

Seashells abundant,

Await to be found.

Ol’ time custom of putting to the ear

To hear the ocean’s soothing sound.

Sand betwixt the toes,

Sandcastles to erect.

Sand in places one didn’t know,

Sand ev’rywhere interjects.

The tide comes in,

Reaching the beach.

Reminding time is short,

As sandcastles topple beneath.

A perfect sunset

To fill the eyes.

Awe inspiring reflection

On the water upon a sunrise.

O what a joy must arise,

To go and see.

Until I can get there,

This will be my beach of a dream.
