Texas Blue Bonnets in SummertimeA Poem by Melinda McQueenTexas Blue Bonnets in Summertime
Hot out, Sun shines down. It seems to prick the skin, Its stabs knows no end. Its weight astounds.
Bright is the day, All is on display. Blue Bonnets stand at attention, Ever alive in the sun’s expression. Honoring with grace.
Swaying in line, Noticed along the roadside. A beautiful view On the drive through. Texas Blue Bonnets in summertime.
A warm blanket at times, And others, a source which blinds. Powerfully it climbs It’s journey’s rise. Until reaching its heights.
Its fingers intwine Drops of sweat and a glistening shine. Even so, beauty fills the air, With their sweet fragrance everywhere. Texas Blue Bonnets in summertime.
