In a Flash of Light

In a Flash of Light

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

In a Flash of Light

A light shimmered,

The path casting a path.

Late night crickets

Sounding without lack.

A solace found in the wind,

Blowing a warm summer’s breeze.

Stars overhead

Look down in a wink.

All the world asleep

At such an early hour.

The still… the calm…

Magnified in power.

The soothing sounds of first raindrops

At play on the pavement,

Causing the earth to drink

And to reflect.

A wind blew

Through the now waving trees.

Dancing in surrendered praise,

Saturated within their leaves.

Suddenly, thunder rumbled,

A bolt zigzagged across the sky.

All the earth lit

In a flash of light.

Your poem is full of imagery. A solace found in the wind and soothing sound of first raindrops are touchy. One can get closer to the nature. Nature has a healing touch. Nature soothes our mind and heart.
