Two LocketsA Poem by Melinda McQueenTwo Lockets
They hung about my neck, close to the heart in my chest. It was my big day, and the two lockets were in my stay.
Dressed in my dress and veil, happiness I felt. So aware that they were with me, two lockets I wore proudly.
I wish two people could have been there to show their love and care. Yet, in a way, I felt them near that day.
For as my Daddy walked me down the aisle, they were with me all the while. My mother and grandmother’s ashes were around my neck, inside the two lockets.
