Strawberry TimeA Poem by Melinda McQueenStrawberry Time
Oh, the taste of summer, The sun beams without mercy. Beaches and lakes swarmed By vacationers, sun-ready.
Its sweetness remembered, Once biting into its flavor. The coolness exploding, Strawberry time beholding.
Color of red, like a blossom in the hand, Chilled to the touch, a balm to the parched mouth. A favorite of summertime, Next to watermelon, no doubt.
Picked in plumped finest, Indulged as a whole, Or cut into stationery wheels… Strawberry time served in bowls.
Lovers feeding one another Drizzled or dipped in chocolate sweet. An act of love-- A mini retreat.
What a fun pleasure-- What a delight-- To enjoy a taste of Strawberry Time!
