Little Sallie's ProtectorA Poem by Melinda McQueenLittle Sallie’s Protector
Gently the rain tapped, though loud was the sound Atop the tin roof. She sat still, hoping to be found.
Little Sallie was afraid, for she was all alone. She wanted nothing more than to go home.
She’d been with her family on a picnic when she chased a butterfly. Before she realized, she was lost and began to cry.
Then, droplets of rain mingled with her tears. On top of being lost, she was wet and filled with fear.
Having found shelter inside an old shed. Though Little Sallie was now dry, she sat in a corner and bowed her head.
Still crying, wanting her mommy, thinking she’d never see her again. She then beheld a magnificent sight, causing her to grin.
Little Sallie’s parents searched frantically, desperate to find their little girl. “Lord, help us find her and let her be alright. She’s our world!“
Soon, they were led through a trail, and saw the shed with a glowing light inside. Her mother ran as fast as she could, hoping she was in the shed and was all right.
Opening the door in haste, she found Little Sallie in the now dark room. “Mommy! You came! He told me you would. And that I should wait here for you!”
“Who told you to stay?” asked Mom, “…and where has the light gone??” “The man with huge wings! Oh,
and he was wearing a sparkling robe!” Mom
bowed her head and cried, for sending an angel to protect my little girl.”
