Through the WindowA Poem by Melinda McQueenThrough the Window
When I was a little girl I sat in the window And watched the kids play. They laughed and ran so.
Every now and again, They’d wave at me. Sometimes, for me they performed skits Through the window, my special treat.
Trying their best to include me, The one inside the window frame. Spectating from inside, I’d laugh and smile at their games.
Though I wished I could play with them, To simply be a kid, too, I actually liked watching their fun Through the window in my bedroom.
When I started writing stories, I created my own little world. In them, I was free to be Just a little girl.
In years since, there’s been things I dreamt of. And guess what? I now have my own show… my art… As the books I write flow Through the window of my heart.
