Taking Up My Rod

Taking Up My Rod

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Taking Up My Rod

Use me to Thy will,

To gather the sheep unto Thee.

Feeding words of love;

Let it be.

Having given to me an ability

To string a page with words.

So here am I…

Taking up my rod, Lord.

Thy grace, sufficient,

Thy love, filled with power.

Thy glory, seen ev’rywhere,

Thy mercy, it towers.

Raising it high,

Strength for the battle.

Thy word, let dwell in me…

I’m taking up my rod with a clatter.

A gift from Thee,

To let others know they have gifts, too.

Speak through my writing, Lord,

Thy words of truth.

Here I am, Jesus,

A vessel in Thy hand none can rob.

Give me words to write…

I’m taking up my rod.
