If Tomorrow Were YesterdayA Poem by Melinda McQueenIf Tomorrow Were Yesterday
If tomorrow were yesterday-- Would I go about it a different way? If I knew how it would go, Would I want it to show?
If today, time I could borrow By re-living yesterday as tomorrow, What would I do? Would I view yesterday anew?
If tomorrow were yesterday-- I could remedy my mistakes. I could unshed tears And dismiss my fears.
Perhaps I could hold my tongue And not jump the gun. I could undo my wrongs And let my strife alone.
Would I waste time In falling behind? Or would I waste today In thinking of yesterday gone astray?
If tomorrow were yesterday-- Tonight, when on my pillow my head I lay, A prayer I would offer in sorrow, Wishing tomorrow were tomorrow.
