Into the SunsetA Poem by Melinda McQueenInto the Sunset
The day’s done and all seems quiet. Sitting on the shore, her heart full of dreams… she can’t deny it. It lives inside her, awaiting the day it will find its wings in an open sky. But she feared it had strings, keeping her dreams at bay. Looking into the sunset, she contemplates the will of her dreams. Should she stop dreaming and forget? It feels as though they’ll never happen. Could they ever come to be? She watches as the sun sinks still. While a beaut to see, her hope of her dreams’ flight was sinking more each day. Peering into the setting sun, she ponders if her heart had a say… would she listen to it? Would she allow it to take flight? Looking into herself, her faith grew might. Allowing her dreams’ wings to soar, gazing out at the horizon where her dreams met her faith once again… she dares to look into her own sunset.
