Hungry Heart

 

A heart needing filled,

Athirst for the Living Water.

Came fill me over and over,

For I’m ever in need of You, Father.

 

I call upon You

At every morning’s start.

For I cannot go a day

Without You feeding my hungry heart.

 

I need to be in touch

With Your perfect will.

To be fed Your Word

Which my soul craves in the still.

 

You’ve saved me in the midnight hour

And Your grace never falters.

You’ve set my path

As it was heavenly altered.

 

Keep me hungry,

Keep me thirsty,

Until all I want is found in You.

Until You are all I need.

 

Lord, may I forever follow after You,

For I want to be where You are.

Be a shadow unto me

And feed this hungry heart.

This reminds me of the old medieval theologian who argued that desire in itself is not sin, nor destructive, it's merely the object of the desire, if you desire the divine as opposed to the fleshly.

This was my fav stanza
