The Light
A flicker was all she
could see,
In the distance, a tiny
light.
It seemed far away, out of
reach,
Finding herself straining
for sight.
For she was in complete
darkness,
Save only the light which
flickered beyond.
Alone and in distress,
She and fear had an
unwanted bond.
Her idle thoughts raced,
Not knowing what lay ahead.
What would she face
If she kept moving where
the light led?
In the darkness, the
flicker was bright,
So, she had nowhere to
look…
But to the glowing light
capturing her sight.
Oh how she was hooked!
For it beckoned her onward
to the blessed light,
Fleeing from fear with
each step.
Pushing through with such
might
That she realized her
depth.
She bothered not to look
back,
For fear was no more her
plight.
The further she went, and
darkness slacked,
The closer she came to the
Light.
