The Ribbon of Faith

The Ribbon of Faith

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Ribbon of Faith

Letting the ribbon flow

In the wind,

Relieved she had finally let go;

She watched it float on a current.

Though she could not see

What kept it afloat,

She knew it would end up where it was meant to be.

A special ribbon, it carried a story of its own.

Feeling blessed to know its tale,

It was time to set it free.

After all, it had made its way to her upon a windy sail,

And was kept until its purpose was complete.

Downtrodden was she

When the ribbon found her.

Taking it, she had decided to keep

The ribbon in all its wonder.

The longer she kept it,

The happier she became.

It wasn’t magic,

But more like grace.

She knew it was meant to be shared,

So, one day she threw it up in a breeze.

Sending it up with a prayer,

The ribbon of faith was again released.

Not believing in religion I see faith as a 'christian/humanitarian' approach and in this I envisaged the protagonist spreading this through kind acts. Nice flowing piece.

The ribbon of faith ties us to God, and sharing that faith with a prayer for others to find by fate is a faithful act in and of itself.
I really enjoyed your poem. thank you for sharing your work here.

Thank you for reading.
Hmm im curious is the ribbon a metaphor for something? I can imagine it standing for her peace or content. Or is it literal
