In the ShadowsA Poem by Melinda McQueenIn the Shadows
In the shadows She always hid. Tucked inside Was her heart’s wish.
She saw the sun indeed, As it shone ever bright. It was there, she knew, For it was ever in her sight.
The sun called to her, Illuminating her dreams. An ever-present source, Showing her what could be.
The more attention she paid To the sun’s light, The less she noticed the grey In the shadows of her life.
Letting the sun’s power penetrate her heart, It did its work. Soon, the shadows fled, she was no longer afraid, As the sun shone evermore.
She rejoices in the power, And will always know That faith casts out fear, Like the sun in the shadows.
