The Fire Within MeA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Fire Within Me
A splash here, a splash there, A tiny flicker nourished with abandoned care. Raging on the inside, Refusing to hide.
A roaring fire Never ceasing to tire, It seeks to rise To reach greater heights.
On the ground it spreads, As slowly it’s fed. Climbing the walls Until it consumes all.
A safety in its grace In whatever I face, It keeps me real, So my hope, none can steal.
Longing to be quenched, Yet, not altogether relinquish, It awaits to break forth, Seeking its true north.
A splash here, a splash there, A fiery faith, I choose to dare. For when I’m who I’m supposed to be, Ignited is the fire within me. © 2017 Melinda McQueenReviews
