The Warrior in MeA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Warrior in Me
Attempting to stand strong In the midst of all the wrong, Staring
into the unknown,
Seeking the best Through life’s tests, Even when in despair, The warrior in me dares.
I want to give up As I hold my now empty cup. Drained of everything, I have nothing to bring.
Stepping out in faith, Do I have what it takes? Having been beat down, Can the warrior in me still be found?
Time blinks its thinning eyelashes, Never again to find a period which matches. Locked in yesterday’s vault, Never to live in tomorrow’s all.
Through tears, I close my eyes Hoping she arrives. Here I am, in my need... Calling
the warrior in me.
