![]() I Wanna DanceA Poem by Melinda McQueenI Wanna Dance
So much weighing on my soul, My burdens in overload. How I
long to be free-- To be light on my feet.
I wish I could gather the wind In my arms and let it go again. Spinning around in such a stance, I wanna dance.
To not be held back, To have my dreams pick up slack. To deliver all my heart pants after, To have it matter.
Let me move and have my being, And have my faith do the seeing. Reaching down, I’m in a trance, I wanna dance.
These sails of mine need filling, As my heart is spilling. Let me dry my weeping eyes And my hope again rise.
Break down the barriers that have me kept, And let me say of my heart… “It leapt!” My dreams await their chance, Chanting
“I wanna dance!”
