Spinning My Wheels

Spinning My Wheels

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Spinning My Wheels

Life has a funny way

In putting me in my place.

Reminding me that some things just aren’t meant to be--

Not for little me.

Try as I may, I will never fit in

And all my good things will come to an end.

Nothing lasts, nothing’s real,

I’m spinning my wheels.

Painstakingly trying to reach my destination,

While having reservations.

Desperately trying to move along

In chorus to my unheard song.

Road blocks many,
And detours plenty.

One Way signs, far and near

Leave me spinning my wheels.

Like a stationary bicycle, I’m going nowhere,

No matter how hard I pedal, or how carefully I steer.

I’m still in the same place,

Sitting in wait.

Even so, in keeping faith,

I hope to live out my days

With my wheels on the pave

And my heart full of thanks.

Though the journey is long and slow,

And though I may have to do this solo…

For me… to get anywhere…

I must keep spinning my wheels.

Great wisdom in your words dear Melinda.
"Though the journey is long and slow,
And though I may have to do this solo…
For me… to get anywhere…
I must keep spinning my wheels."
I like and agree with the above lines. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry

Very relatable piece! I can remember feeling exactly this kind of frustration many times in my life. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us.

Also, I think the first two lines should read:
"Life has a funny way
Of putting me in my place"

I felt the frustration we all share even when one is not disabled, but to be disabled requires a lot more strength of mind and will, endurance and not to give up. A touching write

Love this one Melinda, but from knowing you on here I feel you will never give up and with your faith in God many doors will be opening for you some day. Valentine
