The Woman in My MirrorA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Woman in My Mirror
She stares back at me, And I wonder what she sees. She knows what lies inside, And the thoughts of my mind.
Knowing all the ins and outs, She’s aware of the things that crowd On the inside of my heart, And I jump with a start.
Painfully, only she can see The true me. She knows my dreams are a bit out there, Yet, the woman in my mirror dares.
She inhabits my secrets, And my every need she gets. Her eyes don’t blink As she thinks what I think.
I tell her that my dreams can’t be, And I fear she’s starting to believe me. She looks into my eyes, And we share a weary sigh.
I lift my head and she does the same, As we ponder the end game. From within, I hear her faith, As the woman in my mirror prays. © 2016 Melinda McQueenReviews
