She Hangs onto the Moon

She Hangs onto the Moon

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

She Hangs onto the Moon

She reaches for the stars

For she dares to defy

Limitations life tries to impart.

Searching as far as she can,

She knows there has to be a way

To have her dreams take a stand.

She hangs onto the moon,

Hopeful her dreams manifest

Into her ultimate truth.

High in the sky,

Her faith lifted up,

Her enduring hopes rise.

She hangs onto the moon,

Believing somehow, someday,

That her dreams will come into view.

For she looks beyond the twinkling stars

Knowing that her answers lie higher

Than the sky could ever embark.

High up, she doesn’t look down in gloom

At all of life’s circumstances,

But rather, she hangs onto the moon.

Thank you for your visit. God bless.
Beautiful! Reading this poem gave me a feeling of hope and appreciation for my dreams; it reminds me of when I remember my dreams in all the bad times. Hanging onto dreams, or one's true self, feeds passion and love, which brings us closer to a harmonious world. Great job. :)

Thank you for reading and leaving your review.
This is such a sweet poem and very picturesque. Plus, I have taken a class in astronomy and in love with the night sky, so this is simply magnificent!

Melinda, Foregoing the strictures of rhyme for free flowing verse opens up new possibilities in form and tempo; this piece is new ground for you and it is brilliant! New worlds inhabit the write and word play...this may be the best piece of yours that I have read!! I give you much credit for stretching your poetic wings in this new flowing format. I am saving this to my library favorites! VERY impressive work! take care...dan
