Falling Asleep to Your Memory

Falling Asleep to Your Memory

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Falling Asleep to Your Memory

Slumbering to rest,

I remember you best.

You come back to me

And somehow I feel complete.

Lying in bed,

You fill my heart and head.

In a twinkling moment I’m free…

Falling asleep to your memory.

Holding on tight

To your memory in the dark of night,

The stars above wink

As into you I sink.

Wishing you were still here in my world,

But in my heart your love curls.

Yes, your love is with me indeed…

Falling asleep to your memory.

Though I miss you so much,

Glad am I that my heart has been touched.

It just goes to show

Love forever holds.

Slumbering to rest,

I remember you best.

In a twinkling moment you’re here with me…

Falling asleep to your memory.

The other night I finally had a dream of my husband that was like the sweet olden times. I felt blest when I woke up to have seen him again without the pain in his eyes and on his face. Valentine

awwww sweet.
What a wonderful way to pay ode to an affectionate tie!

Memories are like a jealous river, it cuts through temporal ravines of the present, and establishes precedence of the past.

And that circle of remembrance and living through the current while these two entwine themselves into a bitter-sweet melancholy, is what survival and living a life is all about.

Thanks for sharing your poem. Liked reading it.

Dreamland holds many things...ones that keep us awake and others that help us to sleep. We treasure the ones that help us to sleep, but those and the bad ones are of equal strength and effectiveness. When our head hits the pillow we can only hope for the ones that we find restful. Very nicely done. take care...dan
