In a Thing Called Time

In a Thing Called Time

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

In a Thing Called Time

Radiant was her face,

When her dream was given a place.

Longing for a time that feels like a lifetime ago,

A time her heart still knows.

She remembers fondly,

His spirit glowing with an ease.

Something gentle about his touch

Made her love him so much.

In a thing called time,

Her heart did he find.

Stretched across space,

Love did not go to waste.

She traces his memory

As the greatest love story.

Reliving it in the folds of who she is,

Giving purpose to her most cherished.

In a thing called time,

There’s no need for reason or rhyme.

For when two hearts collide

Love refuses to hide.

Her tears still come

Though all is said and done.

As for what she feels…

Well, it’s just as real.

Until time is no more…

Until she is with the one she adores…

She lives her life

In a thing called time.

It's very very rare that end rhymes impress me but this is excellent, just beautiful.

Melinda, This is possibly the best of your writes that I have read so far. Love, by definition, is a timeless entity...once a love is attained it is always present, if only in our memories. Your incredible phrasing in this piece lays such a gentle framework for the poem's construction. EXTREMELY well done, young lady. I am going to save this to my library favorites, so thank you for that! take care...dan

I love this. The feeling of being in love, you lose a sense of time, but when you're not in love, its as if you are hypersensitive of it. Amazing.

I love this (and anything Time related) Melinda.
This in particular recalled to me the inimitable Miss Havisham
"On this day of the year, long before you were born, this heap of decay," stabbing with her crutched stick at the pile of cobwebs on the table but not touching it, "was brought here. It and I have worn away together. The mice have gnawed at it, and sharper teeth than teeth of mice have gnawed at me."
(Great Expectations - Miss Havisham to Pip)

This is so beautiful and heartfelt - you want nothing more than for the two of them to be together again!
