She Dreams

She Dreams

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

She sits and awaits

To be filled.

To see and taste

The dreams instilled.

Slumbering only in hope,

She allows herself to dream.

If only her home

Would be all she sees.

For as there is power in the unseen,

There is power in faith.

She feels her dreams cling

To her like a hot summer’s day.

She wrestles with the cold fact

That they may never came to fruition,

Knowing full well that the world isn’t lax.

Yet, she dreams, harboring ambition.

“Stay with me.”

She hears herself say.

For without dreams,

Where would she be today?

If never they come,

She will be content.

For they are hers and she has won,

If only she dreams.

Yes, "stay with me" I hear those words myself and keep dreaming. Nicely done.
