Who Holds the Pen

Who Holds the Pen

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Pages filled with droplets of emotion,

Taking on forms we know not.

The spirit’s devotion

Never fails to knock.

Life takes turns and we are in a place

We never expected to be in.

We wonder in our state….

Who holds the pen?

A state of not being

In complete control,

Rather, clearly seeing

There is much we don’t know.

Trying to do it on our own,

But when we stop to listen…

Is it not our will alone…

Who holds the pen?

Closing the eyes,

Let our lives flow

And let the Pen Holder be the guide

As we faithfully follow.

Leaving our lives in His hands,

Our story will only deepen

Once we understand

It’s Jesus Who holds the pen.

I love this so much Melinda because I can truly relate to feeling God's presence over me as I write something. It is something special to feel that especially the days when I have no desire to write.
This is so great Melinda, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful poem with me.

Beautiful, Melinda.
On many occasions I have felt the gentle hand of the Pen Holder nudging me in directions because I was quite lost.
Absolutely a wonderful poem. Great flow and rhyme.
Thanks so much.

Powerful and good words dear Melinda.
"Leaving our lives in His hands,
Our story will only deepen
Once we understand
It’s Jesus Who holds the pen."
If we are led by love and Jesus. The words will hold meaning. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Sometimes life runs in mysterious ways and we find ourselves being portrayed as a character in a story but don't know exactly who is writing it. A lot of soul-searching is done, scratching of heads...until at last the author is determined. In your case that author is the Lord and you find your story in perfect symmetry within the context of your beliefs and His guidance. Beautifully written. take care...dan
