A Vessel Needing Filled

A Vessel Needing Filled

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Empty, I came to You Father,

Dried up and weary;

I thirst for the Living Water,

My longing, my need.

I’m Your lowly servant

In search of Your grace.

My spirit is fed only by what You grant,

A vessel needing filled in this commonplace.

Swimming amongst a roaring tide,

I’m barely staying afloat.

I look to my left, then to my right

As my spirit is soaked.

Come to my rescue

For I’m drowning in my own fear.

I trust that You will continue to guide me to You.

A vessel needing filled; a longing to have You near.

Pour out Your glory

From on high.

Filled with mercy,

You, O God, are the spark in my eye.

Help me not to be so full of myself

And the cares of this world, but bowed to Your will.

May You always be my wealth,

And may I ever be a vessel needing filled.
