Pearl Girl

Pearl Girl

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

With painted eyes,

She has her world in her sights.

Twirling in a solo dance,

She awaits her chance.

Dreaming to become all she feels inside,

She captures the light

As she spins and twirls,

For she’s a pearl girl.

About her slender neck

A string of pearls rest.

A prayer lies upon each,

Ever within her reach.

Though her dream cup

Has yet to be filled, she doesn’t give up.

Her fingers touch each, giving her faith a whirl,

For she’s a pearl girl.

Having been under tense pressure,

This pearl will soon be made pure.

For she knows

That dreams makes her faith grow.

So, she smiles her smile in divine graces,

Knowing that her rough places

Are being made smooth in dramatic swirls,

For she’s a pearl girl.

Downplaying obstacles to her dream the character chooses to trust her faith and forge on. Everyone knows how to give up, not many know the euphoria of realizing what they have already been given. A tender and hopeful piece, very well done Melinda. take care...dan

This was a different approach to saying a prayer to the father as she dances, spins and twirls.
