In Her EyesA Poem by Melinda McQueenDedicated to my Grandmother.Years of seeing, Years of being. Her eyes have beheld Much in time spent well.
She has seen her babies grow, And has loved them so. Her family was made bigger by God’s grace,
In her eyes we could do no wrong, As she sung to us her favorite songs. In her eyes she was blessed
Now her eyes no longer see The faces of her babies. For she is now legally blind And only shapes can she find.
Her eyes… the windows to her soul-- A soul to never grow old. I wonder what she sees When closing her eyes to sleep.
In her eyes times of old replay. In her eyes we stay. In her eyes life has been enough. In her eyes is unconditional love.© 2015 Melinda McQueenReviews
