Keeping the Light On

Keeping the Light On

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Darkness fills the earth

As evils seem to birth.

Sad hearts everywhere

Looking for a bit of love and care…

Wondering their worth.

Turmoil looms

As depression consumes.

Rearing its ugly head,

Demanding to be fed.

Blocking out the truth.

Faced with challenges so big,

Forced to look inside of yourself and dig.

For keeping the light on allows God to shine

Over your trials and lights the darkest night.

Pray until sorrows are rid.

Let it all out,

Even with a shout.

For cries before the Lord

Are better than a thousand words.

In Him there’s no doubt.

Carry on, for you’re not alone,

Carry on, so God’s love is shone.

Carry on, others are counting on you

To show them Truth

By keeping the light on.

A very self enlightening write
Filled with promise
one must find the love in everything
Allow the light of god to show one the way

At the end of the day
People can only give so much
But that light within
It never dies
Its eternal

Divine

How your words lift us from the shadows and let us see God's light shining down... feel the inspiration to rise up and carry the light with us each day. Powerful and beautiful words!

Thank you for reading and for your kind review.
Such inspiration you have in your poetry Melinda. I especially like the lines:

"Faced with challenges so big,
Forced to look inside of yourself and dig.
For keeping the light on allows God to shine
Over your trials and lights the darkest night.
Pray until sorrows are rid.

I like the stanza and how they play out all the way to the conclusion, well done.

Very beautiful writing Melinda as always. So many have weak faith and fail to see the offer of help. Help is found by those who are truly looking and believing. Just asking for help is not enough. You have to recognize the help when it comes along. And give thanks for whatever we receive even if it does not live up to our expectation. You are provided for as God feels is necessary and nothing more. God helps those who help themselves as it is said. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words.

The light being on is a beacon for good, a haven for a weary traveler, a port in a storm. A light being left on is a place where God more than likely resides and you can feel him in the house when you first enter the room.
