Frozen Memories

Always there,

In the back of my mind somewhere.

A time of yesteryear

Still so clear… so dear.

A time I was so happy,

I was complete.

 

Hidden within the folds of my spirit,

Nothing could ever come near it.

 

A lifetime ago,

Still I hold.

Treasured moments invade

My every day.

My own love story

In frozen memories.

 

Closing my eyes,

My world still lies.

 

Beneath a shattered heart,

They are ever a part.

Welling up inside,

Ever to reside.

There are instances it’s like he’s near,

As near as my tears.

 

Like a fierce wave,

They take me under each day.

There in my dreams…

In my needs.

He is ever in the heart of me.

Frozen memories.

I so relate to this Melinda. "Hidden within the folds of my heart" - a gorgeous image, so bittersweet.

Some relationships make such an indelible mark on our heart that they are the first image that called from heart to mind when we wake, daily and throughout the day recalled by those little things (a song, a smell, an outline of someone similar, etc)

The strong connections forged in love are the last to fade.
