LIfe Waves

The waves toss to and fro,

Rolling in the deepest folds.

Releasing its glory,

It tells of a story.

 

Running wild and free,

Still aware of its lead.

The ocean wails

As not to fail.

 

In its heartbeat

Lies the inner retreat.

For it’s not the journey,

As much as it is destiny.

 

Life has a funny way

In getting one to a certain state.

Quite often it splashes

As the lightning flashes.

 

The meaning of the sea’s existence

Is wrapped in the essence

Of what one believes

And not what one sees.

 

To reach the shore

One must implore

All this life has to offer.

So, think it over.

That first stanza is a killer Melinda.

In the fourth there is a typo lightening should be lightning and I wondered about the first two lines of that stanza - I think it would read better as "Life has a funny way of getting one into a certain state".
However, the fourth stanza has great metaphorical components.

I love the Zen-ish feel of the fifth stanza and the final stanza is a great finish.
