Perfection

Perfection

A Poem by Melinda McQueen
"

What is it?

"

O the dire need for perfection

To show a bit of affection.

To be too big or too skinny

Is the affliction of many.

Hair nicely laid,

A beauty to never fade.

To possess every quality

That makes one feel pretty.

Have to be this, have to be that,

In a world rag-tag.

To be superior

One looks at the exterior.

Then, you get over it.

A inner fire lit,

The truth you finally get,

Once there’s a changed mindset.

Who cares what you look like?

It's not about size.

Who cares about stature?

There’s much more to master!

The soul is in need,

Having a spiritual plea.

To share communion and love

With the Savior above.

…And that’s perfection!

Its good thing that God doesn't look at the outward appearance but looks at the heart and character of the person. It reminds me of a story about a Pumpkin .

A lady recently being baptized was asked by a co-worker what it was like to be a Christian. She replied, "It's like being a pumpkin:
God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you may have gotten from the other pumpkins. Then he cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."
