The Bitter-sweetness of Friendship

Inspired by my best friend, Rose G.

Friendship such as ours is bittersweet;--

one moment we are at peace

and then like that we dash one another

to the ground beneath the other’s feet.

Is there no end? Is there no cease

in hurting and shredding the other?

 

I sometimes do often wonder

about us--the ebb and flow

of our long hours together

in deep conversations--and ponder

the meaning of it all: the no,

the yes, the why and the whether.

 

Whether this joining of minds

of ours in bipolar nexus shall last

no one but us can really say;--

what matters as the future unwinds

is that we put aside the doubts of the past

together and as friends embrace the new day!
