Our Duty

I started my duty in training I did

Learned how to fight and win the bid

Machine not a man a non-feeling being

Where fear is ignored left silently fleeing

At home you fear paying your bills

While I am out seeing the deadly kills

You anger because you struggle in life

While I wait for an enemy with a knife

You worry about chemicals your eating

I'm stuck in hole watching men bleeding

Your major assignment is buying a car

Mine is watching a scope 100 yards far

Your out buying a house I wish I had

While I'm watching the blood spill bad

Your going out to eat with your friends

For me the killing and death never ends

I come home and you want me excited

Your new house, garden you provided

You want me to work back in society

With dreams of killing people anxiety

Afraid of a backfire that I maybe shot

Or a thanks for the freedom I never got

No comparison when death is in place

Having to stare at it direct in the face

Be thankful US we gave you the right

To sleep without nightmares in the night

We won't have that option and little care

We were the soldiers alone we were there
